Asset pending: hero video

Hyperlocal stories, told for the globe.

I make documentary and field journalism in South Asia.

One person, two practices

Documentary and field production

Producer and director across documentary, broadcast and brand film. Field-produced for Vice World News, Google, CBS and ZEE TV; directed and produced for the Government of Maharashtra. Peabody, GLAAD and OJA recognised work. Editorial team building, field production and direction across India.

Civic and climate field journalism

Ground-level reporting on public institutions, the civic systems people live inside, and climate adaptation. Formerly reporter and citizen campaigns lead at Hindustan Times Mumbai, recognised with the Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Civic Journalism. An active independent civic voice on infrastructure, water and municipal accountability.

Field journalism

People and public institutions

The everyday workings of institutions that teach, treat and govern millions. Recent work includes 180 Years of Teaching and Healing for Sir J.J. Hospital and the Dil Se Seedhi Baat cancer conversation series for ACTREC, Tata Memorial Centre.

Hyperlocal civic stories

Road infrastructure, water supply, demolitions and municipal accountability in Mumbai, reported from the ground. A record built at Hindustan Times and continued as an independent civic journalist.

Climate adaptation and environment

Slow, human stories of adaptation in coastal and peri-urban South Asia: water access, heat, housing, fishing villages and the people adjusting to all of it.

Gender, identity, labour

Human-led narratives on gender, identity and labour, from the Peabody-winning Transnational for Vice World News to first-person women's stories sourced across India for ZEE TV's Kahaani Har Ghar Ki.

AI in editorial practice

Active experiments with AI across research, transcription, translation, archive recovery and review, applied inside live productions. Building a working point of view on where AI helps human-story journalism and where it does not belong.

Currently developing

New independent work in development. Details on request.

About

Independent documentary producer and journalist in South Asia. I work on public institutions, gender, hyperlocal civic stories, climate adaptation, and the human stories inside large systems. Field-produced for Vice World News, Google, CBS and ZEE. Peabody and GLAAD recognised, Ramnath Goenka Awardee. Available for commissions.

Thirteen plus years across documentary, broadcast and print. Directed and produced 180 Years of Teaching and Healing for the Government of Maharashtra, produced the India episode of Vice World News' Peabody-winning Transnational, and built a pan-India journalist network for ZEE TV's Kahaani Har Ghar Ki. Earlier, reporter and citizen campaigns lead at Hindustan Times Mumbai, covering civic affairs and the BMC.

Since 2018, campaign lead for video and digital media at the Mumbai North Central District Forum, a citizen-led civic accountability body, and from July 2026 a member of the Rotary Club of Bombay Bandra. Alongside production work, I run active experiments with AI across the editorial pipeline and apply what works inside my own productions.
